Interested in the BBL Laser? Here’s what to expect during and post treatment
By: Dr. Corey Hartman, Skin Wellness Dermatology
The Forever Young BBL is hands-down a crowd-pleaser. It corrects sun damage, makes the skin appear clearer, smoother, and younger, and even prevents signs of aging skin.
What’s not to love?
It’s an excellent option for anyone looking to reduce aging signs, but it’s also a go-to for those looking to maintain healthy, young skin.
What is BBL? Plus, the Difference Between IPL vs. BBL
When looking for the right laser treatment, many wind up choosing between the IPL, which is intense pulse light, and the BBL, which stands for broadband light.
So what’s the difference?
Basically, the laser company, Sciton, branded their IPL device as the BBL. While intense pulse light technology has been around for a while, Sciton’s BBL device is a more specific laser technology that can often achieve better results.
How do we know this?
At Stanford, they conducted a study called the Forever Young Protocol and found that with certain settings, at a certain frequency, Sciton’s BBL Laser can be like a magic eraser for the skin, making it look and feel years younger.
The BBL Treatment Process: What to expect
Before the BBL treatment, we apply ultrasound gel that provides a barrier between the energy and the skin, so there’s no direct contact. It feels like a little prick, so there’s no numbing associated with it, and people don’t typically complain about the pain.
As a non-invasive treatment, there’s really no downtime. You might be a little red for a couple of days afterward, and you might peel, but it’s not going to be anything significant.
BBL Treatment Results
Like I said before, it’s like a magic eraser for the skin. Sun damage, red and brown, anything like that, it just makes it go away. It’s pretty amazing. The brown is pulled to the surface and peels away while the red just sort of fades away.
Is the BBL the best option for you?
BBL is best for people who are in the sun a lot and ready to get rid of any damage that it’s caused. Of course, since fair-skinned people will be more affected by UV damage, they’re going to get the most out of this laser treatment.
Whether the goal is to maintain healthy, youthful skin or erase the signs of aging, it can work wonders to improve your skin’s overall appearance.
