Meet the CEW Beauty Creators Ambassador: Dr. Corey L. Hartman on the Importance of Industry Acknowledgement

When recommending products to friends and patients, Dr. Corey L. Hartman, a board-certified dermatologist, looks at what not only delivers results, but what is easy to use and provides great value.
“Whether I’m recommending a product to a friend or a patient, I need to know that it works and uses proven ingredients. Clinical studies are great—I love learning about new formulations and the science behind products—but the products I recommend the most are those that I personally use and love. I have favorite brands, but am always open to trying something new, especially if the products are geared toward Black skin/people of color,” said Dr. Hartman, who is the Founder and medical director of Skin Wellness Dermatology in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Alabama School of Medicine.
Recognition in the beauty industry “is huge,” said Dr. Hartman, who likens a program such as the CEW Beauty Creators Awards as the equivalent of peer-reviewed research in a world governed by peers—the ultimate stamp of approval.
He sees the program as one that is important for brands to be a part of since it gives them automatic exposure.

A native of New Orleans, Dr. Hartman’s dermatological background, education and experience make him an ideal candidate to serve as a CEW Beauty Creators Awards Ambassador to help raise awareness and excitement for this year’s program.
