Options for every budget: How to get rid of under-eye wrinkles

Eye wrinkles get a lot of attention, largely because they’re some of the first to show up, and unless we do something about it, we all eventually get them.

The wrinkles around the eyes start to appear sooner than later for many reasons. For one, the skin around our eyes is thin, and as we get older, that skin gets even thinner and starts to sag. Plus, the skin around our eyes is constantly in motion; when we smile, when we laugh, when we squint. This constant movement makes this area destined for fine lines.

But enough about the causes; let’s move on to something more productive – the treatments.

How to get rid of under-eye wrinkles no matter your budget

How much you’re ready to spend in order to get rid of under-eye wrinkles may depend on how much your under-eye wrinkles bother you or literally how much money you have in the bank. Whatever the reason, we’re all willing to spend a different amount to get rid of them.

While some are ready to go big and go forward with the best, most efficient treatment and see almost immediate results, others may be just starting to notice them and just want to spend a little to ward them off and prevent them from becoming more noticeable.

Low budget options to ward off under-eye wrinkles

Regardless of the under-eye treatment you go with, you’re definitely going to have to use an eye cream.

Some of my favorites are:

  • Skinceuticals AGE Eye Complex. This is one of the most hydrating and moisturizing eye creams and probably the best at preventing dryness, which can contribute to lines and wrinkles.
  • The SkinBetter InterFuse Treatment Eye Cream. This bestseller covers all the bases. It’s going to help with puffiness and discoloration while also providing moisture. I will say, it’s a better choice for someone who’s a little bit younger and not as concerned about wrinkling.
  • Isdinceutics K-OX Eyes. K-OX has recently risen to the top of my list of best eye creams. What’s unique about it is that it has vitamin K, along with antioxidants. Vitamin K is good for those who have discoloration around the eyes. Around the eyes, you have really thin skin, and what happens is that the hemosiderin in the blood vessels leaks out of the tissue and causes that greyish purple look. So that’s where Vitamin K can be really beneficial.

Along with a good eye cream, low concentration chemical peels are one of the most economical ways to get rid of under-eye wrinkles.

Low concentration chemical peels are an excellent place to start because they’re really affordable. Since they result in rapid cell turnover, with a series of treatments, they’re going to help improve fine lines and wrinkles, including those under the eyes.

Medium budget options to get rid of under-eye wrinkles

Exilis, which uses heat and radio frequency, is a great way to take it up a notch without having to necessarily break the bank.

It’s a little more expensive and a little more of a commitment since the treatments have to be scheduled one to two weeks apart for maximum benefit. But it’s a good way to keep everything tight.

Microneedling with PRP is another effective medium-budget option that’s going to tighten the skin and stimulate collagen.

Unlike Exilis, which stimulates collagen through heat energy, microneedling is going to stimulate collagen mechanically. Then, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) can be done in conjunction with microneedling by injecting it or rubbing it on. When done together, you’re going to get the maximum benefit.

High budget options for under eye wrinkle treatment

If you’re ready to spend a bit more, the CO2 Laser is great for real tightening and resurfacing.

Using carbon dioxide (CO2), this skin surface-removing laser removes fine lines and even deep wrinkles, including those around the eyes. By removing the thin outer layer of the skin and heating the dermis, this laser stimulates new collagen growth. As the skin heals, it’s going to be smoother, tighter, and more vibrant.

Dermal filler is going to be another go-to option for treating volume loss and wrinkles underneath the eyes.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers make the skin underneath the eyes smoother and plumper, and therefore, reduce or eliminate wrinkles in that area. For patients who are ready for immediate results, this is typically the treatment they’re looking for.

Last but not least, we have the tried-and-true Botox®.

By simply relaxing the muscles around the eyes, Botox helps the area appear smoother and more youthful. This is definitely another go-to for those looking for more immediate results and can even be done in conjunction with filler.

Did you know there were so many options for getting rid of under-eye wrinkles?

Whether you’re ready to spend a good amount of money or just a little bit, I hope you see just how many options you have to get rid of under-eye wrinkles. If you’re just starting to notice them, maybe you go with a low-budget option to keep them from getting worse. If they’re really starting to bother you, maybe it’s worth the money to go ahead and spend a little more to get the more immediate and noticeable results you want.

As with everything else, it’s all about selecting the option that makes the most sense for you.
